The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is a 501 (c)(3) non profit organization.  AFSP's mission is to "Save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide".  Our Maryland Chapter offers educational programs, advocates for public policy and provides support for those affected by suicide.

Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center, located on the waterfront in the Solomons community, is one of the region's most unique cultural assets.  Annmarie hosts some of Southern Maryland's best-loved events, including the Fairy House Festival, the Artfest, Halloween in the Garden, and the award-winning Garden in Lights.  On a daily basis, the garden is a great place to visit for all ages.  The sculpture garden has a paved path that is perfect for enjoying art and nature, taking a walk, or riding a bike.  In the beautiful Murray Arts Building, visitors can always find an interesting exhibit, daily activities, and the Gift Shop.  Throughout the sculpture garden and in the Murray Arts Building, visitors will find more than 45 works of sculpture on loan from the Smithsonian Institution and the National Gallery of Art.  In the summer, visit the garden for a special treat--more than 50 handmade fairy houses are tucked away in nooks and crannies around the garden!
For those residents who are looking for enriching classes, be sure to get a list of the latest art classes from Annmarie's Studio School.  From ceramics to ballet, the School offers a wide variety of classes, workshops, and camps for all ages and abilities.  The pottery classes are some of the most popular!  Annmarie's membership program offers great discounts on classes, as well as free daily admission to the garden and all the main events.  The garden is open daily and is handicap accessible.  Annmarie is pet friendly (except during special events).  Annmarie is also a popular venue for weddings, corporate receptions, and holiday parties.  Visit the website to explore the rental options.

The American Veterans Assistance (AVA) Group is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Southern Maryland that provides assistance to veterans and their families. Our initial mission focuses on military-to-civilian transition support services for veterans in the local area where we work in conjunction with the Department of Defense (DoD) Transition Assistance Program (TAP) to provide seamless transition services.  Our services include job fairs, mock interviews, resume assistance, salary negotiation techniques, mentoring sessions, instruction on proper interview and business attire, professional networking events, and job placement opportunities.  We’re veterans helping veterans and their families successfully navigate the transition to civilian employment.

The Care Net Pregnancy Center of Southern Maryland helps women explore their options when facing an  unplanned pregnancy.  We also support the community by providing programs in prenatal care education, parenting skills, and relationship education.

Established in 1989, the Center for Children is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention and treatment of child abuse and the promotion of positive mental health through crisis intervention, therapy and education.

Vocational Rehabilitation-Vocational training, family and individual support services and recreation opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

Established in 1990, first 26 homes repaired in April 1991.  Christmas in April in St. Mary's County, Inc. in partnership with the community rehabilitates the homes of low income homeowners particularly the elderly and disabled so that they may live in warmth, safety and independence. We also provide help through work on community projects.

The purpose of the St. Mary's County Commission for People with Disabilities, which is entirely made up of volunteers, is to provide the Board of County Commissioners for St. Mary's County with advice and assistance in the content and administration of compliance measures with regard to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and to increase acceptance, awareness and full participation in all aspects of county life as well as the quality of life for persons with disabilities including employment.
